Everline Resort and Spa Lake Tahoe: Mountain Vibes Meet Modern Luxuries

Located in the heart of North Lake Tahoe in Olympic Valley, California, Everline Resort & Spa is a favorite for skiers. With direct access to Palisades Tahoe through the resort’s dedicated ski lift, the location makes it easy to hit the slopes during the day and unwind at the spa in the evening. It features multiple dining options, a 150-foot waterslide, year-round heated pools and a championship golf course for summer visitors.

Everline, a Destination by Hyatt property, offers reasonable midweek prices and easy access to what I consider the best overall ski resort in California. Travelers can also book their stay with World of Hyatt points, which could be a great way to save when the cash price increases over weekends or holidays.

I visited Everline in January 2025 during a multiweek snowboarding trip around Lake Tahoe. Although the hotel covered the cost of my stay and food, all the opinions expressed in this review are my own and were not influenced by the resort.

The Everline Resort and Spa enjoys a prime location within the scenic Olympic Valley, located just south of Truckee, California and 45 minutes from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport in Reno, Nevada. That access to Truckee provides plentiful options for après-ski (after-ski activities) and dining away from the property. Beyond snow sports, the area is a haven for year-round recreation, with opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing and golfing around nearby Lake Tahoe.

Visitors flying into Reno can easily access Everline by making a reservation on the North Lake Tahoe Express, a shuttle service that connects the airport with North Lake Tahoe. As of this writing, that service ranges between $99 and $140 per person.

Once you arrive at Everline, the resort and greater area is served by two free, on-demand rideshare programs called TART Connect and Mountaineer. TART Connect provides free rides within the broader North Lake Tahoe area, whereas Mountaineer provides more localized service between the Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows. I used Mountaineer twice during my stay to access Palisades Village and a nearby restaurant, which saved me almost $100 in Uber costs.

The resort comprises 405 guest rooms, including standard deluxe king and queen rooms, suites with in-room fireplaces and up to three beds, and penthouse suites. You can also select between rooms with a forest view or valley view.

I stayed in a valley view fireplace suite with a king bed located right above the “Resort Chair” ski lift, which provides easy access to Palisades Tahoe. These rooms are equipped with a gas fireplace, sleeper sofa and kitchenette with two-burner stovetop and dishwasher. The alpenglow through the window during the morning sunrise was a sight to behold, and the fireplace made the room feel really cozy against the snowy mountain backdrop.

The bedroom was basic and a bit cramped given the odd angle of one of the walls. But there was plenty of storage space for clothes and bags in the dresser and bedroom closet, with an additional closet by the front door.

The bathroom was spacious and included a dedicated shower and bath tub.

In 2024, Everline increased to a Category 8 hotel in the World of Hyatt program (the highest tier). You’ll spend between 35,000 and 45,000 points per night for a standard room, 55,000 points per night for a suite and 90,000 points for a penthouse.

SS values Hyatt points at 2.2 cents each. During low-traffic weekdays, base rooms at Everline can cost around $250 or 35,000 points. At that price, your points would only be worth about 0.7 cents each and you might be better off paying in cash. But over peak periods during the winter, standard rooms can increase to $1,600 or 45,000 points per night. At that price, your points would be worth an outstanding 3.6 cents each.

World of Hyatt suite upgrade awards can be used to upgrade to a fireplace suite, similar to the room I stayed in. Hyatt also waives resort fees on award stays, so you’ll save an additional $50 per night by using points.

The easiest way to earn a slug of Hyatt points for free-night stays is through the World of Hyatt Credit Card. New cardholders will earn the following sign-up bonus: Earn up to 65,000 Bonus Points. Earn 35,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. Plus, up to 30,000 More Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points total per $1 spent in the first 6 months from account opening on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 spent.

There are six dining options at Everline, but schedules for each restaurant vary seasonally. I was there midweek and was only able to try Cascades, Sandy’s Pub and the Bearshine Cafe. Additionally, there’s the Six Peaks Grille (steakhouse), Oasis Grille (poolside during the summer) and Iron Road Noodle House.

Cascades is home to the resort’s breakfast buffet. The room is open and airy, framed by trees and views of the mountains. Globalist members in the World of Hyatt program receive complimentary breakfast at Cascades for up to two adults and two children, which can lead to significant savings over the normal buffet cost of $36 per person.

Breakfast options were robust and included a made-to-order omelette bar, pastries and breads, various types of meats, cheeses and fruit and other options like smoked salmon and edamame pork dumplings.

There were also fresh juice options each morning, including orange, strawberry, mango and peach, a dedicated “syrup station” for waffles and pancakes and a bloody mary bar.

Sandy’s Pub is Everline’s casual dining option with multiple TVs and a welcoming bar. You’ll find both indoor and patio seating and better-than-usual pub food, including wings, salads, sandwiches and ribs.

I tried the cobb salad with chicken, which was enormous and filling.

Normally, I’d have gone for ribs or a burger. Then I saw someone order the mud pie and figured a salad would leave more room for dessert. And I’m glad I did – the alternating layers of brownie, vanilla and chocolate ice cream were decadent and delicious.

The Bearshine Cafe is a coffee and grab-and-go spot located between the hotel building and the main lodge. Here you can get espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches, pastries and lunch and dinner foods including pizza, grilled cheese and gelato. The cafe also doubles as a convenience store, offering various snacks and beverages.

The Ski Bar, located on the terrace outside the spa and next to the ice rink, is a perfect place for après-ski drinks. Grab a hot toddy and post -up by the fire at the end of the day.

The primary draw for skiers and snowboarders will be the ski-in, ski-out access from Everline to Palisades Tahoe via the Resort Chair lift. Walk outside, strap in and within seconds you’ll be whisked up the mountain. This lift is available to the whole ski area but is generally only accessed by resort patrons. You’ll be treated to a view of Lake Tahoe from the top.

Located on-property by the skating rink, Everline Sports offers a variety of rental equipment for skiers and snowboarders. You can reserve gear online or in-person. You can also demo gear, which lets you try different equipment before you purchase. There is also a retail golf and ski shop that sells a variety of recreational apparel and equipment, including ski goggles, helmets and outerwear. During the summer, it turns into a golf pro shop.

The shop has an equipment valet to store rental and personal gear. Just drop off your equipment at the end of the day and it will be on the snow and ready for you in the morning.

The on-site recreation center can set you up with a variety of different activities, including snowshoe and snowcat stargazing tours, ice skating, broomball, sledding, bike rentals and fly-fishing. If you opt for fishing, bring your catch back to Sandy’s Pub where they’ll clean, cook and serve it.

The price for each activity varies, but generally runs between $20 and $80.

Everline has two outdoor pools heated year-round, a kids pool and three hot tubs. There’s also a water slide that’s open seasonally. The heated pool was a fantastic way to end a day on the slopes, with mountains in the background towering over the valley.

The fitness center is equipped with new-ish machines and free weights, treadmills, a Peloton bike and a digital trainer. The location is easily accessible next to the ice rink and spa.

Everline offers over 15 indoor rooms and additional outdoor space for meetings and events, including weddings, holiday parties and conferences. The event spaces seemed modern and pleasant.

Everline Resort and Spa is among my favorite ski-in, ski-out properties in California. The midweek price is affordable, and while weekend and holiday prices are higher, they’re still reasonable relative to other comparable properties in the North Lake Tahoe area. With unparalleled access to Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows, I’d highly recommend Everline Resort and Spa for your next winter excursion.
